Dragons Lose to Gangsters, 8-4
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Alfredo Cruz, the Chicago Gangsters defeated the Dallas Dragons, 8-4. Cruz was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Gangsters. The winner in relief was Phil Dalton. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. Nick Thompson was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Tied up with the Dragons in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Gangsters got a boost from first baseman Mike Gohlke. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Gohlke saw a first pitch fastball from Ben O'Halloran and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Chicago on top, 5-4.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Gangsters manager Antonio Valdez. "This one was nice to get."
Chicago is now 43-75. Dallas is 60-58.
