Giants Squeeze By Daytona Beach, 2-1

The Detroit Giants got a good effort from starter Dave Shevlin in defeating the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles at Leatherback Park. The final score was 2-1. Lee Maher wrapped it up, recording his 20th save. Detroit now owns a record of 56-61.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Angelo Mejia to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Mejia.
