Sea Dogs Reel Off Another Win
|
The Charleston Sea Dogs scored a convincing win at Ballpark of Charleston, defeating the New York Nightmare, 13-2. One of the hitting stars was Ernesto Ramirez, who is tied for 8th in the NC with a .305 batting average, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. David Edgemon, the winner, improved to 5-5. He held the Nightmare to 1 run on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Omar Cons closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.
Charleston got a big at-bat from Bismarck, North Dakota native Danny Lebron, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Sea Dogs ahead, 9-1.
"They beat us like the proverbial rented mule," said losing manager Joey Bishop.
Charleston has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
