Shiners Win, 5-1, at Syracuse
|
The Charleston Shiners beat the Syracuse Scorpions, 5-1, at Scorpion Stadium. Starting pitcher Jared Trombley was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Charleston has now won 3 straight, while the Scorpions have lost 3 in a row.
The Shiners got a big hit from designated hitter Cole Calkins. Facing Syracuse pitcher Joe Brown in the top of the sixth, Calkins pounded a 2-run home run to left. His 4th home run of the season put the Shiners ahead, 5-1.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Calkins said.
