Benigno Swings Crown to 9-3 Win
The Carolina Crown powered past the Cleveland Brawlers, 9-3, at Reedy River Stadium. Blake Benigno provided some of the pop. He was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Steve Pikula earned the win. Phil Dalton took the loss for Cleveland. Carolina now owns a record of 48-68.

The Brawlers had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Crown going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old first baseman Jeff Whitis came to the plate. Whitis hit a 3-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Cleveland hurler Phil Dalton. It was Whitis's 15th home run of the year.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Carolina skipper Kyle Caito.
