Barbone Powers Giants to 6-5 Win
The Detroit Giants and San Francisco Fire obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Detroit Giants defeated the San Francisco Fire, 6-5, at Ballpark of Detroit. Ben Barbone, who finished 3rd in the AC in doubles with 45 in 2022, was a standout performer for Detroit. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. The winner was Detroit reliever Lee Maher, now 3-2. The loser was Mike Dineen. Devin Wickliffe recorded his 3rd save for Detroit.

The Giants got a big hit from third baseman Brandon Fry. In the bottom of the sixth, Fry smacked a 2-run double off San Francisco pitcher Chris Benson. It was his 4th double of the season. Suddenly, the Giants were ahead, 5-4.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Fry.

The Fire, at 13-27, have lost 4 in a row.
