Both offenses were relatively subdued at The Hideout. Fortunately for the San Diego Fleet, though, Carlos Miranda was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times, to lead his team past the Chicago Gangsters, 3-2. San Diego is now 70-45, Chicago 40-75.
Mark Torres, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2022 draft, aided the San Diego cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder drew 1 walk.
Miranda called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
