Syracuse pitcher Dylan Diggs did his part in helping his team defeat the Hollywood Stars, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Syracuse is now 60-55, Hollywood 48-67.

Nate Volk had a big 2-run home run for the Scorpions in the bottom of the third inning. With Syracuse leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a cutter from Josh Reed, who finished 5th in the NC in strikeouts with 210 last year, and swatted a home run to center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scorpions ahead, 3-0.

Syracuse manager Josh Gifford commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
