Downward Spiral Continues for Tampa Bay
|
The San Diego Fleet earned a close win over the Tampa Bay Captains, thanks in part to Ray Rorie. The San Diego right-hander, who is a five-time All-Star, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. The win gives San Diego a season record of 67-47.
The Fleet got a big at-bat from center fielder Ed Woodside. For the game, Woodside went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave San Diego a 2-1 lead.
Woodside called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
