Desperados Get Past Carolina, 3-2
|
The Austin Desperados picked up a win at Reedy River Stadium, topping the Carolina Reapers, 3-2. On the mound for Austin was left-hander Luke Scrimger. He played a principal role in the triumph. Victor Angel notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 4-2. Joe McLaughlin, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 25th save.
Drew Riggi chipped in for Austin, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning. For the game, the second baseman went 3-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Austin skipper Tim Ward.
With the win, Austin raised its record to 63-51.
