Phoenix got a strong outing from Johnny Keener as the Gladiators defeated the Carolina Reapers, 4-1, at Gladiators Ballpark. Manny Brant, credited with the save, is now 19 for 22 in save opportunities. With the victory, the Gladiators record stands at 54-59.

The Gladiators got a big at-bat from catcher Mike Pierskalla. For the game, Pierskalla was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Phoenix a 2-0 lead.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Phoenix manager Brett Bartlett.
