Vancouver Stopped, 5-1, by Boston
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Boston Whistlers and Vancouver Caribou came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The timely hitting of Willie Kirkham helped the Boston Whistlers down the Vancouver Caribou, 5-1. Kirkham was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Whistlers. Boston has now won 5 games in a row.
Derek Maher, who led the NC in doubles with 44 in 2020, took Vancouver hurler Nick Douglass deep in the top of the fifth. His solo home run put the Whistlers on top, 2-1. In all, Maher had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Maher.
