The Tampa Bay Captains picked up a win at Ahoy Park, knocking off the Vancouver Caribou, 5-1. Starting pitcher Phil Gregoire was a big reason why. The Captains improved their record to 48-65 by beating Vancouver.
Tampa Bay third baseman Steve Post contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 46th hit of the season and put the Captains ahead, 2-0.
Post called the win "a collective effort."
