The Halifax Heathens rode a solid performance from 21-year-old starting pitcher Branden Covington to a win, beating the Indianapolis Eagles, 4-1, at Estadio Azteca. Covington got the win, improving to 5-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Halifax.
Eric Kukowski had a big 2-run home run for the Heathens in the bottom of the second inning. With Halifax leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Jesse Walker, who is tied for 6th in the NC in wins with 4, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Heathens on top, 4-1.
"I thought we played a nice game," Kukowski told the Halifax Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
