Big Day for Dietel as 23ers Down Royals, 7-3
|
Chris Dietel, who finished 4th in the AC in hits with 171 in 2022, led Fountain Hills to a triumph over Cincinnati. The final score was 7-3. The designated hitter went 4 for 5, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 3 runs and added 3 RBI. Sean Muzzy, the winner, improved to 12-2. He held Cincinnati to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Donovan March recorded his 7th save for Fountain Hills.
Had Isaiah Mill not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Mill hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the 23ers.
Fountain Hills manager Efren Nieman was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
The triumph puts Fountain Hills at 57-54 for the season.
