In a low-scoring contest between the Syracuse Scorpions and the San Diego Fleet, John Froerer, who is on pace for 302 strikeouts this season, proved to be the difference. The Syracuse right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Scorpions win. Ken Allbaugh earned the save for Syracuse, his 31st of the year. The Scorpions now have a record of 57-54.

Froerer, the winner, is now 9-4. In 7.1 innings of work, he gave up no runs on 3 hits, while collecting 10 Ks. He essentially shut down the San Diego offense.

"I was the aggressor," said Froerer. "No doubt about it."
