Behind a solid performance from right fielder Juan Lira, the Syracuse Scorpions defeated the San Diego Fleet, 5-0. Lira went 4-4 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times for the Scorpions. Syracuse sits in third place in the American Conference Central Division at 46-65.

Ryan Mallory had a big 3-run home run for the Scorpions in the bottom of the third inning. With Syracuse leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Rodolfo Soto, who finished 4th in the NC in innings pitched with 217.2 in 2019, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scorpions ahead, 5-0.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Lira.
