Mexico City first baseman Hunter Long played a vital role in his team's 9-8 conquest of Chicago. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Mexico City. Jeff Cox was called on to finish, recording his 26th save.

With Mexico City leading 5-4 in the top of the fifth, Long hit a run-scoring single off Chicago hurler Jesus Fernandez. It was the 90th hit of the season for Long and put his team ahead, 6-4.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Mexico City manager Pete Clark.

The loss makes Chicago 40-71.
