The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles rode a solid performance from 33-year-old starting pitcher Jon Haynes to a win, beating the Phoenix Gladiators, 6-2, at Leatherback Park. Haynes, now 5-3, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The last-place Sea Turtles have won 5 in a row.

The Sea Turtles got a big hit from catcher Chris Wagner. Facing Phoenix pitcher Mike Walsh in the bottom of the fifth, Wagner pounded a run-scoring double to right. His 14th double of the season put the Sea Turtles ahead, 2-1.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Daytona Beach manager Edwin Gomez.
