Nightmare Sunk by Eagles
|
The Indianapolis Eagles stymied the New York Nightmare, 4-1, at Eagles Stadium. Jesse Walker had a good day at the plate. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for Indianapolis. The winning pitcher was Walker, now 9-4. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. James Gibson picked up his 15th save of the season.
Ricky Plascencia had a big solo home run for the Eagles in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Indianapolis leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from Joe Schroeder, who is tied for 10th in the AC with a 3.76 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Eagles on top, 3-1.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Walker told the Indianapolis Citizen. "You win just by scoring more runs."
With the victory, the Eagles upped their record to 61-49.
