Invaders Stumble, Lose to Gladiators
The Phoenix Gladiators easily defeated the Oakland Invaders, 15-1, at Howard Terminal, with third baseman Ton Ariëns a main contributor to the win. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for Phoenix. Matt Dickson got credit for the save for Phoenix. It was his 4th of the year. With the win, Phoenix pushed its record to 63-47.

Phoenix left fielder Brian Shultz helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.

"That was awful," fumed losing manager Adam Ponder, post-game.
