Pines Win Thriller, 5-3
|
New York shortstop Matt Davis had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-3, to Maine at Oakhurst Field. Davis was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Matt Haselden, now 8-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. The Maine win streak is now 3 games.
The decisive blow was delivered by Eric Hicks in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 33-year old left-handed pitcher Tony Rosario to win the game for Maine. The home crowd went nuts.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Hicks.
