Syracuse Loses, 2-1, in 10
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Tampa Bay Captains and the Syracuse Scorpions, 25-year old left-handed pitcher Scott White was the difference-maker. The Tampa Bay left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. By defeating Syracuse, the second-place Captains improved to 51-58.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Tampa Bay. That's when Bill Larrain hit a solo home run off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Ken Allbaugh to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said White. "Successful pitchers do it."
