The Detroit Giants did just enough to secure a victory over the Mexico City Aztecs, 3-2, in 12 innings at Gran Estadio Azteca. Nobody did more than pitcher Julian Bryant. With the win, Detroit raised its record to 25-15.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Glenn Valentine to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Giants on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Exhilarating win," said Valentine.
