Trash Pandas Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Toronto Trash Pandas starter Chad Bendon hurled his team past the Charleston Shiners, 2-1. Bendon yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. David Johnson recorded the save, his 1st.
Bob Cook had a big run-scoring double for the Trash Pandas in the top of the third inning. With Toronto leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a changeup from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Victor Figueroa and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Trash Pandas ahead, 2-0.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Cook, "and then get after it again."
With the loss, Charleston sinks to 2-2.
