Davis gets 5 RBI, Leads Nightmare to Win
New York shortstop Matt Davis contributed significantly to his team's 9-3 win over the Fountain Hills 23ers. Davis, the 6th overall pick in the 2023 draft, went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Nightmare. Mario Ruiz, the winning pitcher, is now 1-11. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 3. The Nightmare raised their record to 41-68.

Early in the game, Davis had a 3-run home run for New York. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Nightmare on top, 3-0.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Davis told a New York Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
