Fire Rally Late to Nip Mounties
|
The San Francisco Fire weathered a fine game by Vancouver center fielder Javier Brito to upend the Mounties, 6-5, at San Francisco Grounds. Brito was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. San Francisco reliever Marcos Rosas picked up the win, upping his record to 4-6. Chris Brown absorbed the loss. San Francisco sits in second place in the National Conference West Division at 57-52.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when San Francisco shortstop Severo Salcido, facing Chris Brown, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Fire the 6-5 win.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Salcido said.
