Dale Day, who is tied for 7th in the NC in home runs with 8, led San Diego to a win over New York. The final score was 6-4. Day scored 2 times, while going 3 for 5. The designated hitter also was credited with 2 runs batted in. Rich Forbes earned the save for San Diego, his 2nd of the year. San Diego is now 25-14, 6 games up in the National Conference West Division.
Steve Ross had a big 2-run triple for the Fleet in the bottom of the first inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from 30-year old left-handed pitcher John Dollar and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Fleet ahead, 3-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Ross told the San Diego Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
