Great Effort by Scorpions 3B Tapia Not Enough in 9-6 Loss
Syracuse third baseman Bobby Tapia had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Tapia went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, even as Austin beat the Scorpions, 9-6. Sam Campos got the win, improving to 3-2. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Bob Baucke earned the save for Austin, his 13th of the year.

Julian Chavez cracked a home run off Chris Dries in the bottom of the third. His grand slam blast put the Desperados on top, 6-2. In all, Chavez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Chavez.

The losing streak for Syracuse has now reached 5 games.
