Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Charleston Sea Dogs and Fountain Hills 23ers.
Starting pitcher Omar Cons had a solid game. He was a big reason the Charleston Sea Dogs throttled the Fountain Hills 23ers, 3-1. Cons, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Dustin Patton got credit for the save for Charleston. It was his 1st of the year.
Charleston used a well-timed hit by Josh Botello to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Sea Dogs ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Omar can pitch. He moves the ball around," said Charleston manager Chad Hart.
The Sea Dogs improved their record to 22-13 with the win over Fountain Hills.
