Jose Contreras, who finished 5th in the AC in ERA with 3.54 in 2024, imposed his will on the Whistlers from the get-go. Relying mainly on his cutter, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Halifax triumph. The winning pitcher was Contreras, now 5-2. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The first-place Heathens have won 4 straight games.

Nick Sumney, who is on pace for 102 RBI this season, came through for Halifax with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. The center fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 runs batted in.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Boston manager Mike Plocher.
