In a tight contest at Ahoy Park, the San Diego Fleet edged the Tampa Bay Captains by the score of 12-11 in 10 innings. San Diego shortstop Mike MacPherson, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. San Diego reliever Josh Gatto picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Justin Berardi absorbed the loss. Devin Wickliffe, who finished 4th in the AC in saves with 34 in 2017, nailed down the save.

San Diego won the game in part because of Dale Day. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Fleet ahead, 9-8. For the game, Day had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Day. "I like it."

The third-place Fleet go to 18-16.
