Starting pitcher Felipe Moreno gave the Austin Desperados a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the San Francisco Fire, 3-2, at San Francisco Grounds. Joe McLaughlin picked up the save for Austin, his 2nd of the year. San Francisco drops to 2-2.

Austin used a well-timed hit by Jose Sanchez to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Desperados ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

Austin manager Tim Ward said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
