Royals Claim Late Win
|
The Cincinnati Royals racked up a win at The Castle, bumping off the Fountain Hills 23ers, 7-2. Josh Huggins, who started for Cincinnati, pitched effectively for his team. Dane Roberts picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Taylor Motyl, who is tied for 2nd in the AC in quality starts with 5, was tagged with the loss. The Royals improved their record to 19-14 by beating Fountain Hills.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Heath Sherlock came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Fountain Hills pitcher Stuart Taylor, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 4-2.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Cincinnati manager Justin Aaron.
