The rain did not keep Vail and Miami from finishing their game.
Vail turned a fine outing from starter Dan Herbert into a victory over the Miami Boll Weevils at Ballpark of Miami. The final score was 4-2. With the win, Vail goes to 27-20, while the Boll Weevils fall to 17-30.
Ian McKibbins dealt the Boll Weevils a blow in the top of the sixth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Vail leading 2-1, McKibbins, who is tied for 9th in the W-AA in home runs with 8, hit a 1-2 slider for a 2-run single.
Miami manager Bill Murtha said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
