The London Tigers downed the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 2-1, at Ballpark of Cincinnati. Stellar pitching by Javier Alba had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA in strikeouts with 62, handcuffed his opponent all game. The first-place Tigers hiked their record to 30-16.

Ryan Caird, who is tied for 10th in the W-AA with a .376 on-base percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Caird contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put London up, 2-1.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Alba told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
