Behind a solid performance from first baseman Jon Mena, the Hialeah Firecats defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs, 12-7. Mena was 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Firecats. Dustin Richards, the winner, improved to 2-5. He held the Bulldogs to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3. The last-place Firecats improved to 15-31.

With Hialeah leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Mena batted against Hamilton pitcher Richard Alter. Mena hit a fastball to right for a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Firecats on top, 5-2.
