The first-place Augusta Capitols picked up another win.

The Augusta Capitols beat the Sonoma Scorpions by a score of 8-5. Augusta center fielder Martin Vargas deserved the lion's share of the credit. Vargas was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Capitols. Augusta reliever Juan Santana was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Shissho Matsuno took the loss.

Augusta took the lead, 5-3, on Nate Roberts's 3rd home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Sonoma pitcher Guadalupe Lorenzo in the bottom of the eighth.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Augusta manager Chris Clarke.

Augusta, at 28-17, is 4 games up in the Western AA Coastal Division.
