Stockton Ragin Cajuns starter Matt Hanna turned in a sterling performance against the Vermont Milkmen, leading his team to a slim, 2-1 win. The winner was Bobby Black in relief. His record improves to 6-0. Gustavo Pacheco took the loss. Enrique Perez earned the save, his 14th.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Tony Ortiz? The 25-year old center fielder Ortiz stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Stockton up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Ortiz told reporters after the game: "Runs were at a premium, so a good win for us."
Stockton is now 25-20.
