Milkmen Lose By a Run at Augusta
Augusta pitcher Dave Figley had a large part in his team subduing the Vermont Milkmen, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Jeff Cox was called on to finish, recording his 9th save. Augusta is in second place in the Western AA Coastal Division with a record of 25-18.

Ken Gavin went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Augusta. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Gavin, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA in triples with 4, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Vermont hurler Vicente Perez, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Capitols a 3-2 lead.

Gavin attributed the win to his team's "determination."
