Bulldogs Lose, 3-2, to Vail

The Vail Tigercats topped the Hamilton Bulldogs, 3-2, in Western AA action at Mariachis Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Vail pitcher and Tri-Lakes, Indiana, native Steve Pikula. Rich Sargent earned the save, his 4th, for the Tigercats. Vail now has a record of 26-18 with the win.
Danny Gaskins, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA with a .653 slugging percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Gaskins contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Vail up, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Vail manager Mike Alexander said.
