Milkmen Win at Hamilton, 4-3
|
The Vermont Milkmen defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs, 4-3, at Mariachis Ballpark. Sean Heichel was a standout performer for Vermont. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. John Bickel picked up the win, lifting his record to 4-0 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 1 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Luke Getts got the save, the 6th for him this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bryan Colvin? The Vermont second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Milkmen on top, 4-1. For the game, Colvin had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Hamilton skipper Armando Cisneros.
The Milkmen saw their win-loss record go to 21-20. At the same time, the Bulldogs fell to 24-17.
