The Vail Tigercats got a stellar effort from pitcher Danny Gonzales, helping Vail score a win over the visiting Miami Boll Weevils, 7-2. Gonzales picked up the win for Vail, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The Tigercats improved to 22-19.

Ricky Plascencia had a big 2-run home run for the Tigercats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Vail leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Jon Caruso and swatted a home run to right. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigercats ahead, 5-1.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Gonzales told the Vail Herald. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
