The Carolina Reapers had to reckon with Austin Desperados hurler Bill Reno. Reno, who is tied for 6th in the AC in wins with 3, overwhelmed the opposition in the 10-1 Desperados triumph. Reno yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2. The win gives the Desperados a record of 14-16.

The Desperados got a lift from catcher Malachi Smith, who in the bottom of the first stroked a 3-1 fastball to center for a 2-run single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Desperados ahead, 3-0.

Reno said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
