Cavalry Score Late, Topple Boll Weevils, 8-5
|
No one was more impactful than Aaron Mariotti in the 8-5 St. Louis win over Miami. Mariotti, who is tied for 10th in the W-AA in triples with 1, went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. The winner was Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jake Simmons took the loss. Jim Unknown nailed down his 1st save.
St. Louis went up, 7-5, on Tony Hernandez's 2nd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Hernandez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Miami pitcher Jake Simmons muttering to himself.
"Nice to get this one," said Mariotti. "We've been scuffling."
The victory makes St. Louis 12-29.
