Bulldogs Use Late Score to Top Firecats, 4-3
|
The Hamilton Bulldogs weathered a fine game by Hialeah first baseman Jon Mena to upend the Firecats, 4-3, at Firecats Ballpark. Mena went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Hamilton pitcher Tommy LaBiche earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Jamie Brown suffered the loss. Matt Moyer was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Hamilton needed the clutch hitting of J.J. Hassell to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bulldogs on top, 4-3. For the game, Hassell had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"I still think this team can play even better," Hassell told the Hamilton Today.
The Bulldogs saw their record improve to 21-15.
