Cavalry Come Back Late to Top Milkmen, 4-1
|
St. Louis Cavalry pitcher Jim Unknown was in top form, leading his team past the Vermont Milkmen, 4-1. St. Louis reliever Jim Unknown was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jimmy Martinez. Antonio Chacon nailed down his 4th save.
St. Louis used the clutch hitting of Andy Warren to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cavalry ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said St. Louis manager Leo Medina.
St. Louis, with the win, climbs to 13-25.
