Tigercats Net 5-4 Win Over Milkmen

Both teams had their chances, but the Vail Tigercats eventually prevailed.
Vail beat Vermont at Emeralds Ballpark, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to catcher Alex Mejia. He went 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Vail reliever Adam Williams picked up the win to move to 2-0. Ray Vernier suffered the loss.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the top of the fifth, Mejia had a key at-bat for Vail. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Mejia hit a 2-run single off Ray Vernier, making the score 3-1, Tigercats.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Mejia. "Those qualities define our team."
The victory gives Vail a record of 22-15.
