Augusta turned a good effort from starter Kyle Griffin into a win over the Hialeah Firecats at The Capitol Dome. The Capitols won the game, 2-1. Tim Kondas closed out the game, earning his 6th save. The last-place Firecats dropped to 9-25.

Eric Carpenter had a big 2-run home run for the Capitols in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Augusta trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Casey Higgins and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Capitols on top, 2-1.

"Kyle kept his poise and got the job done," said Augusta manager Chris Clarke. "He was outstanding."
