Schmidt Slugs Boll Weevils to 8-1 Win
The Miami Boll Weevils defeated the Augusta Capitols, 8-1, at The Capitol Dome. Miami designated hitter Bruce Schmidt had a superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Steve Flynn. He's now 1-3. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits for the Boll Weevils. The win gives the Boll Weevils a record of 10-23.

In the top of the sixth, Schmidt put his team in front with his 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Max Hercules, made it 4-1, Miami.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Boll Weevils manager Bill Murtha.
