Gessner Helps Boll Weevils Beat Cavalry, 7-6
The St. Louis Cavalry and Miami Boll Weevils provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Miami Boll Weevils stopped the St. Louis Cavalry, 7-6, at Cavalry Ballpark. The Boll Weevils got a big game from Tom Gessner, who was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Picking up his 1st save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher John Keefe.

Raleigh, North Carolina native Tom Gessner had a clutch at-bat in the top of the eighth for the Boll Weevils. With Miami trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run single.

"We found a way to get it done," Gessner said.

The loss makes St. Louis 15-18.
