Alex Mejia did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Vail Tigercats from being beaten, 9-5, to the Augusta Capitols at The Capitol Dome. Mejia was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Augusta reliever Bobby Simpson, now 1-0. The loser was Adam Williams. Matt Schmidt recorded the save, his 2nd.

Augusta took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Nate Yuck hit a run-scoring single to make it 5-4, Capitols.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Yuck told the Augusta Gazette.

The win makes Augusta 18-13.
