Vermont Dealt 6-5 Defeat
|
The inspired effort of Vermont shortstop Willie West was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the London Tigers. West was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mike Mudge got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 5.1 innings. Frank Yanez finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
London used a well-timed hit by Ryan Caird to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Tigers ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We found a way to get it done," Caird said.
Vermont's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
