Boll Weevils Take Tight Tango, 3-1
|
The Cornwall Royals got a superb performance from pitcher Brent LaGesse, but the Miami Boll Weevils still won the game, 3-1. LaGesse threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The triumph puts Miami at 17-13 for the season.
Miami used the timely hitting of Dave Garcia to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Boll Weevils on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Garcia told the Miami Daily.
